[Removed photo was of a grey squirrel so fat it was pretty much globular.]
Things like this shouldn’t be seen as cute or amusing; animals like this one have been seriously neglected by their caretakers.
Humans are naturally quite fat creatures (compare a human infant to a chimp or gorilla infant). We have a continuous layer of subcutaneous fat, which few if any non-diving animals have, and we can cope much better with being overweight* than other animals. An obese human has way more stamina than, say, an obese horse. You just rarely see an obese horse.
Pet/captive animals are dependent on their caretakers for supervising their health. Letting that squirrel get to that size is as neglectful as letting it starve.
(Of course, I don’t know the story behind this squirrel and whether it was the result of neglect. It may be a wild one that lived by the dumpsters at a sweet factory, and this is a photo of it before it was put on a diet. It still shouldn’t be placed in a gallery of cute or funny animals.)
*Leaving aside for now the discussion of what ‘over’weight even means
I will rave about something and then admit that I have no background information or context to the subject that I ranted over but still assume I am right and just.
The general tumblr consensus is, “HOLY SHIT FUCK YOU REESE I AM A TOTAL SLUT AND THAT MAKES ME AWESOME”
Nothing in the quote said anything against personal sexual choice. No one gives a shit if you like to fuck, believe me. But the fact that it’s well known that one can gain fame by showing their tits is pathetic and, yes, the system, the norm at this point.
Guess what, the system is dominated by men and isn’t going to change anytime soon (big fucking surprise). So, maybe the means (or the influences people have) in which “celebrities” work their way to the top should be adjusted so that the work involved is actual work and not just putting out a sex tape in order to gain fame.
Or maybe I should just start posting n00dz to get my blog popular and shout down anyone who questions the quality of my output.

I know you talk about feminism and slutwalk a lot. Someone asked me (more like ranted) about the use of the word slut in slutwalk. I’d just like to know if I’m the only one who after talking to protesters and reading the speeches sees the use of slut in that movement as less of saying “woohoo hell yes we’re sluts” and more of a “are you seriously using that word?” and then making fun of it. Which interpretation do you find most relevant?

I like that people are reclaiming the word. If everyone’s a slut, then no one’s a slut.
I think the slutwalk became a big thing after I took my break… maybe it didn’t. WHATEVER. I haven’t really gotten a chance to address it…
I support the concept behind the idea that, “insinuating someone was raped because of the way they were dressed or “how they were acting” is total bullshit… but isn’t most of the discussion (we’re ALL sluts LOL) just bringing the discussion to the lowest common denominator?
I don’t remember Martin Luther King Jr. organizing any “n-word" marches to fight the injustice of institutionalized racism (which still totally exists so maybe you guys are right and MLK SHOULD have organized a "n-word" walk)
I haven’t been posting much and there’s not much of a reason why. I think maybe this blog had a very short shelf life and I reached it. There’s only so many times you can look at someone being an asshole about food advice given to help people with financial restraints and make a joke about it. While Tumblr is full (full) of these instances of people wanting to complain about hypothetical horrific life situations that would prevent someone from PLANTING A GARDEN, and other nonsense like it, the gradual loss of interest that accompanies bringing to light how absolutely immature and shielded by the internet most of these people are is very strong.
I would just like to say why I created this blog. There was one specific instance that led me to realize how many shameless complainers there are on Tumblr that I left unnamed in my blog.
A few months ago, while reading the blog GreenState, I began seeing a wave of clutter being brought to that blog by the Tumblr blog Atchka. This person was sending wave after wave of messages to the GreenState over someone making fun of McDonald’s and how disgusting they thought the food was.
The antagonizing bloggist sent multiple messages that included such terms as “fat shaming,” “body policing,” and would go on and on about other things that defended a company that is easily the biggest reason for a health epidemic the likes of which this country or likely planet has ever seen. Not only that, but the antagonizing blog claimed to be a supporter of greenstate’s viewpoints.
And that was the start of the idea that was this blog. Something that I find very interesting on Tumblr is the amount of proponents of progressivism who will then tear apart other users for using a word they don’t like. Or forgetting a “trigger warning.” Or for taking a bash at McDonald’s and those who willfully ignore the health risks it causes. Is Tumblr that petty?
I am taking a break from this Tumblr to forget that it very well may be… because, as it says on my page, “Tumblr is nice.” It is a great blogging tool. But some of the people on here need to get their heads out of the clouds because: life will not provide a trigger warning; people should plant more gardens; most of America hasn’t even begun to accept homosexuals yet so maybe cool your jets and don’t lose your temper when someone accidentally "third gender"s someone; and people will continue to make documentaries about how McDonald’s and companies like it are truly a factor in the destruction of people so don’t get offended when someone takes an “anti McDonald’s” stance.
